At just 639 feet in length, Nashville, Tennessee’s Woodland Street Bridge nonetheless plays an important part of the city’s downtown traffic flow, connecting the Ellington Parkway to the northeast to the city’s downtown district and the James Robertson Parkway as it passes over the Cumberland River.
Three sections of pavement were in poor condition and needed to be repaired in September 2009. Fortunately, it was a quick job as repair crews from LoJac Enterprises dug up loose pavement, swept it clean and installed EZ Street cold asphalt for a permanent repair.
Characteristics of the material allow for 2” lifts to be installed, compressed and layered with standard equipment. Because it is not hot asphalt, EZ Street asphalt was produced in advance and the installation was scheduled for when traffic was lightest. All in all, there was minimum disruption to traffic flow.
